Why Do I See Duplicate Agreements?

If there has been any kind of an update to an agreement already entered into our database, we do add it again, with a different Agreement ID. This update may be as minor as a dash ("-") or space added.

We characterize true duplicates as agreements having the same filer and the same accession number on an SEC filing. If the filer and/or the accession number is different for the exact same agreement text, it is not a duplicate.

For example, if the same agreement is filed in the SEC by two different entities, we do not declare these agreements in the product as duplicates. Further, if an agreement is filed by one entity at different times and thus are associated with different accession numbers, these agreements also do not qualify as a duplicate- at least by our definition.
